Is the West becoming too commercial? Are we spending too much money on overpriced consumer goods when people in Africa are suffering?
Maybe. But really, maybe not.
The world we live in has limits, that’s true enough. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the rich consume the things that poor people need. Prices are often misleading in telling the economy and the people about the availability of resources. But thinking that the value of something sums up to a certain number may just be oversimplifying things.
